Dr. James Brown, DVM

Dr. Brown was born and raised on a dairy farm in Frankston, Texas. He attended Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas where he earned his Associates Degree and continued on to the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine program where he graduated in 1992. He practiced in the East Texas area for 3 years before purchasing Lake Palestine Animal Hospital in 1995. In January 2003, he was excited to open a new and larger animal hospital facility.

He is dedicated to serving our local community, and providing the outstanding services to our clients & their pets.

Dr. Brown is a member of the TVMA, AVMA, 3 Rivers VMA, ETVMA, and TVMA Grievance & Ethics Committee.

He and his wife, Nancy, have two children, Casey and Laura. Their pets include 6 dogs and 1 cat.

Dr. Kimberly Dunn, DVM (aka Dr. H)

Dr. Dunn grew up in Killeen, Texas. She attended Texas A&M University for undergraduate studies, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science. Dr. Dunn graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2018. She started working at LPAH straight out of vet school, and we love having her here with us. She has made Frankston her home with her Mom & Dad. She has several dogs but her number 1 dog is Hookah, 1 cat Tater Tot and multiple Nigerian Dwarf Goats. Dr. Dunn enjoys spending time outdoors, adventuring with her family and pets!

Nancy Brown, Manager

Nancy is the wife of Dr. Brown they have been married for 29 years and have 2 children; who have graduated from college. She works at the clinic as both a receptionist and manager. Nancy and Dr. Brown have 4 additional family members: 1 Pekingese (Emmie), a Chinese Pug (Brewster), a Terrier (Cookie), and a cat (Piper).


Sonia Whitworth, CVA I – Office Manager

Sonia joined our team in January 2009. She attended TJC in Tyler as well as Western Career College in Stockton, CA. She discovered her passion for veterinary medicine in her early twenties and has been working in the veterinary field for over 12 years. Sonia started at LPAH as a Vet Assistant & Receptionist, in 2013 she moved up to Office Manager.

Her primary goal is to make sure that all of your needs as a client are taken care of. She truly understands the human-animal bond and that our pets are our family. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, doing yoga & exploring outdoors. She currently lives in Tyler with her husband, 2 bonus kids, & their pets; a 3 legged cat named Brisco and a mixed breed terrier named The Dude.


Laura Byrd, Office Assistant

Laura is Dr. Brown and Nancy’s daughter, so she has always been a part of our team. She officially joined us full time in May of 2016 after graduating from the University of Houston with a Bachelors’s degree in Finance. Laura earned her Master’s degree in Healthcare Management in August 2017. As an office assistant, she helps take care of our clients and any needs they might have, as well as taking care of our payroll! In her free time, Laura likes to spend time at home with her family and friends. She lives in Frankston with her husband Rick and their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Bentley.

Mindy Miller, CVA 1

Mindy first joined our all the way back in 2002! She grew up in Tennessee and graduated from Austin Peay State University with a BS in Biology in 2000. She began her career as a zookeeper at the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler and came to our office in July 2002. In 2009, she moved back home to care for her family, but she returned in 2016. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors – hunting, fishing, and riding four-wheelers. She currently lives in Chandler with her husband Randy, and her 2 Labrador Retrievers: Itty Bitty, a chocolate lab, and Charlotte, a yellow lab.

Kelly Parker, Veterinary Assistant, CVA I

Kelly joined our team in 2006. She has been working in the veterinary field for 18 years. She is an assistant for both large and small animals. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter. She lives in Chandler with her 10-year-old daughter and 2 dogs Red & Blue, both heelers.

Brittany Zucca, LVT

Britany joined our team in September of 2015. She earned her Associate’s in Animal Science from the Vet Tech Institute of Houston in October 2015. She plans to take her licensure test early in 2016. Brittany has worked in the veterinary field for 3 years. She has a pomeranian named Tuck that she enjoys to spend time with when she isn’t working.

Cash Campbell, Kennel Assistant

Cash joined our team in January 2011. He graduated from Frankston ISD in 2009. He loves working with all the animals making it feel like home away from home for your pets. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his friends and watching movies. He currently lives in Frankston with his dog Izzy.

Sabra Perigo, Groomer

Sabra joined our team in July 2010. Her primary goal is to provide a great experience for you and your pet. Sabra has been grooming dogs and cats for 14 years and is familiar with all breeds and styles. She started working as a bather at the age of 13 washing & drying dogs after school for her mother. She loved working with animals, especially dogs, and by the age of 18 became a full-time groomer after graduating high school. She currently lives in Jacksonville with her husband, daughter, 5 dogs, 1 cat, 1 horse, and a few chickens.
